Perfectionism makes you get so caught up in endless thoughts of starting that you never actually continue. That’s exactly what kept me away from writing for so long. You have to have really good content, your blog has to be unique, and a bunch of other “musts” that eventually lead to procrastination—and you just don’t do it.
Procrastination doesn’t mean laziness; it means putting things off for “later,” when the right time comes—and well, there’s no guarantee when that time will show up!
The good news is that I’ve taken the first step, but that doesn’t mean it’s over; it’s just the beginning. To cut down on my perfectionism and actually take steps toward writing, I started searching for a blogging tool other than WordPress. Why not WordPress? It has its own reasons, which I’ll definitely write about if I get the chance.
The things that mattered to me: Simplicity, Developer Friendly, Multilingual Support, and Flexibility.
To fight perfectionism, I set a target for myself:
- A maximum of 30 minutes for searching and listing options
- Selecting a maximum of 5 options
- Spending a maximum of 15 minutes testing each
Finally, I came up with this list: Ghost, WriteFreely, Hugo, Statamic, and Canvas.
After reviewing them, Statamic became my final choice, and so far, I’m happy with it. Right now, I’m setting up the environment, and as soon as it’s ready, I’ll share the results with you.
If you’ve had a similar experience or know of any great tools that you think might help, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Maybe it’ll make it to the list!
